Gohlke Family Receives Local Honor

A father and son are recognized for their family business achievements.

Matt Gohlke, president and owner of Dallas-area pool building firm Gohlke Pools, was honored with his father by the University of North Texas.

The father/son duo were inducted into the university’s Family Business Hall of Fame, which was started by its Department of Management.

Gene Gohlke was recognized for more than 60 years of business in the Dallas suburb of Denton. The graduate of University of North Texas owns Gene Gohlke Building Products and is said to have built one of the first swimming pools in the town.

Matt Gohlke, also based in Denton, is a past recipient of the Texas Family Small Business of the Year. His son, after graduating from the University of Oklahoma, has recently joined Gohlke Pools full-time, ushering the company into its third generation.
