Mitch Brooks, the one-time executive director of the National Plasterers Council arrested after accusations of diverting funds from NPC, has been released from prison pending his trial.

This development came after an appeals court granted Brooks’s request to have his bond requirement reduced from $1.5 million to $110,000.

Brooks was arrested in January, 2016 and charged with three first-degree felonies, including two counts of grand theft in the first degree of $100,000 or more, and one of racketeering. One estimate placed the amount at approximately $1.5 million.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 90 years. He has pleaded not guilty.

Brooks has been placed on an electronic monitoring program.
