The Northeast Spa and Pool Association has contracted a government relations specialist to help work with the state of New Jersey to get its pool/spa professional licensing program off the ground.
In 2019, the state passed a law mandating specialty licenses for pool/spa builders and service firms. However, the program was slow to materialize, then came to a halt through COVID. Now, New Jersey is beginning to make appointments to the seven-person committee that will develop the program. NESPA hopes its new government relations advocate will foster communication with the state.
It especially would like to see licensing in place during these times of high-demand, when it is easier for unqualified individuals to get into the market.
“It’s always helpful to have a professional to help navigate those waters and expedite the process,” said NESPA Executive Director Dominick Mondi.
