The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance now offers an apprenticeship program.
Launched last month, the program is geared to service technicians.
Like other such programs that have launched in the last couple years, PHTA’s Registered Pool Maintenance and Service Technician Apprenticeship Program is offered as a way to help combat the labor-shortage crisis that has plagued the industry for more than a decade.
“Now more than ever, the pool industry is seeking a workforce to keep up with the demand of our products and services,” said PHTA President and CEO Sabeena Hickman. “The PHTA Registered Pool Maintenance and Service Technician Apprenticeship Program will expand opportunities to reskill displaced workers, upskill incumbent workers and develop new entrants to the workforce.”
The program received validation by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Free of charge to PHTA members, the program will involve 2,000 hours of on-the-job training, in addition to 144 hours of online, classroom-style instruction. The latter will incorporate existing PHTA educational training and materials. Through the program, training individuals can earn wages while receiving hands-on training.
