While increase percentages remained in the single digits, PoolCorp reported a record year in sales.

“We are optimistic about the opportunities available to us, given the attractive long-term attributes of our industry to enhance the quality of outdoor home life,” said company President/CEO Manuel Perez de la Mesa.

The Covington, La.-based distributor saw a record sales high of $2.79 billion in 2017, translating into an 8% increase over the year before. This came after a similarly successful 2016, for which the company reported $2.57 billion in sales, or 9% hike over the year before, said the company CEO Manuel Perez de la Mesa.

The company said that pool remodeling, equipment replacement, commercial products and the company’s expansion into more building materials all played major roles in the year’s success.

Gross profit also topped records last year, at $805.3 million, representing a 9% increase over the year before. Its profit margin remained almost identical to the year before, at 28.9% compared with 2016’s 28.8%.
