Which brands do you purchase and recognize the most? Does that generally match the products you believe to exhibit the highest quality?

With the help of the Farnsworth Group, an Indianapolis-based industry market research firm, PSN surveyed 887 pool/spa builders, retailers and service professionals to gauge which brands it regards most highly. Participants were asked about 20 product categories, indicating which brands they are familiar with, which they’ve used in the past two years, which one they use the most, and which one they believe offers the highest quality. The following charts show which brands scored highest for each question within product categories.

In the third and final part of our coverage, we look at the brands offering backyard-living, aftermarket and miscellaneous products.

While the most purchased and familiar brands were often the same as those considered the highest-quality, that was not always the case. And some product categories showed differences among regions and industry segments. Some of these differences are outlined in the captions below.

Accessories

In this product category, Inter-Fab dominated across all regions and industry segments, although its lead was tightest in the Western U.S., where it scored a 67%in brand familiarity, narrowly surpassing Poolmaster’s 59%. It had the most solid hold on the Midwestern market, where 83% of respondents were familiar with it. Under “Brands Used Most” and “Highest Quality,” Inter-Fab performed best in the South, where 61% of respondents gave the manufacturer both designations.
