Greg Garrett, owner of Applied Materials Technology in Chandler, Ariz. and long-time National Plasterers Council technical advisor, has taken a part-time staff position with the industry organization. He now will serve as director of technical services. In his new role, Garrett will handle technical inquiries from professionals and consumers, in addition to contributing more to the organization’s education and certification programs, and its original research.

“Through creation of this position, the NPC has enhanced its focus in the areas of technical information development, pursuit of new research opportunities and membership support functions,” said NPC Chairman Dave Schilli in a press release.

Garrett long has been a key instructor with NPC, among other things leading many of its start-up certification courses, and has participated in or led most research efforts, such as the current evaporation study being performed in conjunction with several other industry organizations.

“This means NPC is doing a better job of helping our members and being better help with consumers who have questions and are looking for a legitimate authority to call and question about something in their pools,” Garrett said.

Garrett serves in this new role in addition to continuing with his own business.
