The International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) of St. Paul, Minn. has launched a new program to help people become certified in repair and inspection, and perform concrete surface repairs properly. The Concrete Surface Repair Technician (CSRT) Certification Program, It is based on code language in the new American Concrete Institute standard “Code Requirements for Evaluation, Repair and Rehabilitation of Concrete Buildings.”
“The demand for employees with the skills this program will provide has risen significantly and is only increasing,” said Keith Harrison, president of ICRI.
The certification program is made up of two levels. Tier 1 targets professionals seeking to learn more about concrete surface repair and inspection, but who don’t need full certification. Tier 2 provides full certification and involves two online exams — one to assess knowledge and another for performance. For the latter, the test-taker is recorded on video or observed using a live video feed as he or she performs the assigned task.
In order to take the certification program, applicants need an internet connection and up-to-date internet browser. Pricing varies depending on ICRI membership status and how many courses and exams taken.
