Housing Starts Perk Up

After dipping below the million mark with 947,000 housing starts in March, the numbers were back up to 1.03 million in April. Still, that’s down 30.6 percent from a year ago. And single-family starts dropped to 692,000 units, the lowest rate since 1991. NAHB President Sandy Dunn said the stats aren’t surprising due to historically low surveys of builder confidence and market expectations since last autumn.
